Sipi Falls is a series of three waterfalls in Eastern Uganda in the District of Kapchorwa, northeast of Sironko and Mbale. The waterfalls lie on the edge of Mount Elgon National Park near the Kenyan border and can be referred to as “The Mountain of a thousand falls”. The Sipi falls area is the starting point for some of the many hikes up Mt. Elgon. The falls are located 60Kms away from Mbale town and it takes about 1hr to drive there. The highest drop/fall is 100metres, the second highest is 85metres and the third drop is 63 metres. While at Sipi falls, other than viewing the beautiful falls you can also get to participate in other activities like abseiling, coffee tour (Coffee experience), cycling, sunset viewing, swimming in the natural pool and participating in what they call the long nature walk. It’s best to start this excursion early morning, to allow you to get the best experience.
